A FILM FROM THE NETHERLANDS WINS THE FESTIVAL 2ANNAS ISFF
2 June 2023At the 27th Riga International Short Film Festival "2ANNAS," held from April 7th to 13th, the jury awarded the Grand Prix - the "Bronze Anna" statuette - to the documentary short film "Neighbor Abdi" by Dutch director Douwe Dijkstra. Meanwhile, the best film in the Baltic Short Film Competition was recognized as the feature film "Dear Passengers" by Estonian director Madli Lääne, which received the "Plaster Anna" award. -

23 March 2023From April 7th to 13th, the International Short Film Festival 2ANNAS, one of the most important such events in the Baltics, will take place at cinemas Kino Bize and K. Suns as well as the culture centre M/Darbnica. This year, the festival will be happening for the 27th time and its main theme will be “Body and Flesh”, exploring the limits of the human body and the senses. In total, more than 100 short films from 25 countries will be screened at this year's festival. -

A look back at the 26th Riga International Short Film Festival 2ANNAS
19 May 2022The Riga International Short Film Festival 2ANNAS took place a month ago. Viewers were offered high-quality and diverse cinema on from around the world on the focus topic of this year 's festival - Human. At the temporary home of the Kaņepes Kultūras centrs in Diagonāle, at the RSU Anatomy Museum, at the KSuns cinema and online, visitors were greeted by competition and focus short film programs, competitions, parties, professional meetings and discussions. -

10 May 2022On May 13 and 14 in Tukums, in the yard of TukkuMaggi, it will be possible to watch short films awarded by the Riga International Short Film Festival 2ANNAS. More than 2,000 films were submitted to the festival, and the best international, Baltic, medium-length films, as well as short films for children and young people, were selected in four different competition programs. This will be a great opportunity to watch excellent movies from all over the world and a wide range of topics will allow everyone to find something relevant to them. -

9 May 2022On May 6th and 7th, the 7th velo and film festival “KINO PEDĀLIS” was held in Valmiera, where visitors were able to enjoy short-film festival 2ANNAS's specially prepared film programmes, delicious sweets and a warm evening. KINO NAKTS short films could be viewed in unique places like Valmieras stikla šķiedra, Pauku priedes, kultūrtelpa “Kurtuve”, Krāču kakta šķūnis and koncertzāle “Valmiera”. -
This year the title of the Best Baltic short and the special prize, provided by BBRental & BBPosthouse goes to Sander Joon’s animation film „Sierra” (Estonia, 2022).
16 April 2022The winner of the Baltic competition was announced during the 2ANNAS ISFF 2022 edition’s awards ceremony. 2ANNAS team together with our prize sponsors and partners in crime BBRental / BBPosthouse declared the winner – film „Sierra” – and provided the director Sander Joon with an opportunity to rent full-service professional filming equipment or to benefit from their post-production services, worth 2000 EUR. -

14 April 2022The awards ceremony took place on 13 April at the cultural centre Kaņepes Kultūras Centrs - Diagonāle. Awards in multiple categories (Grand Prix, best fiction, best animation, best documentary short, best Baltic short, best mid-length film) were announced during the closing ceremony of the 26th Riga International Short Film Festival 2ANNAS. Youth and children's short film competition films were judged and announced by the spectators. -

Artificial Intelligence (AI), queers and transhumanism are just a few of the thought-provoking topics depicted in this year’s festival program. 16 April 2021This year the award ceremony of the Riga International Short Film Festival “2ANNAS” took place live, in the presence of the festival organizers and the jury. From April 9 to 15, 72 films selected from 2,300 entries from around the world fought for nine prizes. A documentary / experimental film “The Last Hour” created by Argentine directors was recognized as the best film and received the Grand Prix Award – the Golden Anna statuette created by the sculptor Aigars Zemītis. Meanwhile, the Lithuanian director's feature film “Places” took the Baltic short film competition and received a Gypsum Anna statuette and an award from BBPostHouse and BBRental - rental of filming equipment and the opportunity to post-process films worth 2000 EUR. -

It is the young viewers who can decide which film wins the award. Both film programs were created by Swiss film and theatre teacher and artist Ron Rosenberg. Various stories, animations, feature films, fiction, and real events - everyone can engage and bat around socially responsible topics. 31 March 2021Next week, on April 9, the 25th Riga International Short Film Festival 2ANNAS will be opened, offering viewers to watch exciting competition programmes online, showcasing both acclaimed works as well as new and experimental films. Along with the competition programmes, since 2013 the festival has also been developing thematic non-competition programmes, created as research on a chosen topic in which cinema is a scientific discipline. This year, the focus of the 2ANNAS festival is ZEME (EARTH) (within the 2020-2022 cycle SPACE, EARTH and HUMAN). 16 February 2020In a solemn atmosphere, in the presence of an international jury of professionals, directors, and guests, 9 awards were presented at the Cannabis Cultural Center on the evening of 15 February to participants in the Short Film Festival 2ANNAS. In the International Awards, 65 new, great films were selected from a selection of 2,654 entries from around the world. The French film "Naked in the Streets at Night", directed by Benoit Rambourg, was awarded the Grand Prix and the Golden Anna statue by the sculptor Aigars Zemitis and the 1000 EUR cash prize from the Latvian Mobile Phone. The winner of the Baltic Short Film Competition was the Lithuanian feature film “Quartz”, directed by Odeta Riškutė and Claudia Matvejevaitė, who won the Anna statue and BBPost House and BBRental prize - the rental of film equipment and the possibility to post-film the film for 2000 EUR. -
